SOC - 115 Social Problems SOC - 115 Social Problems (3 s.h.) This course is an introduction to the study of contemporary social problems. The course examines how social problems are identified, explores underlying conditions and causes of social problems, and considers possible solutions and policy implications. Emphasis is on sociological and critical thinking frameworks. Topics of exploration include: mental illness, substance abuse, crime, prejudice and discrimination, prostitution, poverty, and more.
