EDU206 — Introduction to Contemporary Education

3 Cr. Per Week: 3 Lec. This course will give students a broad and comprehensive overview of the foundation of education in the United States. Students will investigate significant educational issues from the various historical, philosophical, sociological, political, and economic perspectives. Specific attention will be focused on the contemporary interrelationships that exist between the schools and the general society. Students will complete 20 hours of field experience in a public or private school classroom, grades 1-6, with a New York State certified teacher.
