HPE136 — Foundations of Physical Education

3 Cr. Per Week: 3 Lec. This course provides students with the opportunity to investigate and discuss diverse fields of both physical education and sport. Trends and issues in the fields are discussed. Presentation and discussion of historical, sociological, and psychological perspectives of physical education and sport are incorporated into the content. This course assists students in defining career goals within the field. The new NYS and SHAPE America Teaching Standards are reviewed and incorporated in classwork. (Usually all semester.) Reserved for Physical Education majors or related fields.
