MAT108 — Math for Childhood Education I
3 Cr. Per Week: 3 Lec. This course is designed for students who are interested in childhood education. Students in this course will study the mathematical reasoning, and methods with which to teach elementary mathematics. Topics include problem solving; elementary set theory; the whole numbers; functions; numeration and computation; number theory; integers; fractions and rational numbers; decimals and real numbers. Focus is on the reasoning behind the methods, and the ability to explain why and how the mathematics work.
