AUT 231 — Innovative Automotive Technologies

This course is an advanced level course and continues withinformation learned from automotive electronics by increasingstudents’ knowledge of modern electronic automotive systems. Topicscovered in this course will include vehicle safety systems (vehicle-to-vehicle communications, vehicle-to-infrastructure communications,automatic brake control systems, and pedestrian detection systems).Other innovative systems discussed are semi and fully autonomousdriving, telematics, night vision systems, blind-spot visibility, self-parksystems, advanced lighting systems and vehicle cybersecurity. Vehiclecomputer communications and networks will be discussed, and testingprocedures will be performed during lab activities using advanced-level equipment. Students will also use their troubleshooting skillsdeveloped from previous courses to verify, understand and analyzesystem faults using appropriate service information. This course willalso emphasize safety while working with innovative electronicsystems. After successful completion of this course, students will havea greater knowledge of innovative technologies found on vehiclestoday and future concepts. Prerequisite: AUT 125 or instructor’spermission
