ECE 210 — Child Guidance and Discipline

Discusses the differences between punishment and discipline andtechniques for guiding young children. Topics will include positivereinforcement, redirection of negative behavior, setting and enforcinglimits, and the natural and logical consequences of a child’s choices.Students will also learn techniques for self-control and stressmanagement and will develop an understanding that effectivediscipline follows development of a respect for the dignity of the child.Prerequisites: PSY 101, ECE 105 and ECE 200 or commensurateexperience
