SRG126 — Introduction to Surgical Technology

This course is an introduction to the profession and practices of surgical technology. It explores the history of surgery, personnel and communication in the health care environment, training and certification requirements, personal accountability, the scrub and circulating roles of the surgical technologist, principals of aseptic technique and OR attire. Additional emphasis will be on the biomedical connection and the physical environment of the surgical setting. This course satisfies open elective requirement.
