ASLN 121 — Interpreting Theory

This course examines the history of interpreting, interpreting in a variety of specialized settings, the interpreting process, attitudes, and the role of the interpreter. Ideological components, principles, and practices of interpreting for the Deaf community will be examined. Students will learn about national certification and educational licensure. Students are required to accrue 15 mandatory field observation hours observing sign language interpreters with five or more years of experience. (Spring Only)
