PTA 1151 - Clinical Prep I PTA 1151 - Clinical Prep I 1 Credit Hours Course Description: The student will explore the characteristics of current physical therapy clinical practice. The student will accurately illustrate the role and responsibilities of the PTA in specific clinical settings represented by facilities appropriate for placement in PTA 1312: Practicum I. The student will describe/discuss regulatory and legislative policies which pertain to said facilities and will convey effective communication and teaching strategies with various patient populations by means of simulated cases. The student will participate in applying clinical and ethical decision-making with a variety of patient scenarios. The student will practice progressing patient intervention based on physical therapists’ established goals and plan of care in simulated scenarios. This comprehensive course will require the student to demonstrate competency and provide adequate rationale for psychomotor components of Course completion requires students to pass a comprehensive timed practical examination integrating PTA 1013 Fundamentals of Physical Therapy Practice PTA 1023 Musculoskeletal System and Kinesiology PTA 1213 Therapeutic Interventions for Pain Management Corequisites: PTA 1112 Pathology and Pharmacology PTA 2014 Manual Techniques and Advanced Interventions PTA 1224 Orthopedic Conditions and Interventions
