PTA 2021 - Clinical Prep II PTA 2021 - Clinical Prep II 1 Credit Hours Course Description: This course advances students’ readiness for PTA 2035: Practicum II and PTA 2135: Practicum III by deepening their understanding of contemporary physical therapy practice complexities and healthcare system dynamics. Students will perform comprehensive self-assessment using the Professional Behaviors Assessment Tool and demonstrate their commitment to lifelong learning and continued competency as essential aspects of professional responsibility. Through simulated patient scenarios across the lifespan, students will demonstrate competency in data collection, therapeutic interventions, clinical problem-solving, and documentation within the physical therapist’s established plan of care. Students will create patient-centered treatment plans, develop interview questions to assess prior and current function, and recognize when patient status changes require PT re-evaluation. Students will articulate the roles and responsibilities of the PTA, SPTA, SCCE, CI, and ACCE within the PT-PTA partnership model, and explore the behaviors necessary to become effective clinical instructors. The course addresses regulatory and legislative policies, ethical and socioeconomic challenges, resource management, equipment procurement, and advocacy for patient needs with vendors and payors across all physical therapy settings. Course completion requires students to pass a comprehensive timed practical examination
