GST210 — Cartography and Data Visualization

Credits: This course focuses on using geographic information systems (GIS) for map making (cartography) and data visualizationsuch as 3D modeling or animations. Students will learn the methods of map compilation, map design, and critical evaluation of map content. Students will also learn how to clarify data or map communication goals, use graphics to promote an understanding of landscapes and spatial patterns, and explore the aesthetics and ethics of cartographic representation.
