HUM170 — Crisis Intervention in Human Services
Credits: In this course students learn the fundamentals of crisis intervention and crisis leadership. The prevalence of acute crisis situations in our society necessitates that workers in the Human Service field acquire a knowledge and skill base for effective and professional crisis intervention. Special vulnerabilities and ethical concerns for at-risk populations will be examined. Students will apply crisis intervention theory and models of intervention to various problem areas such as suicide, sexual assault, domestic violence, substance abuse, grief and loss, and violent behavior in institutions.
