PTA101 — Introduction to Rehabilitation
Credits: The history of the profession of physical therapy (PT) and the American Physical Therapy Association are explored. The student is introduced to procedures used in PT, settings where PT is practiced, and the physical therapist assistant’s role/career development as part of the rehabilitation team. The importance of evidence based medicine in physical therapy will be introduced. Ethical and legal considerations in physical therapy are also introduced. Communication skills are developed, including effective interpersonal communication, oral and written reports and medical terminology. Infection control and various emergency procedures pertinent to the practice of PT will be learned. Learning
