SOC204 — Social Problems
Credits: This course is an introduction to contemporary social problems from a sociological perspective. Students will learn how to analyze social problems using both sociological research methodologies and theories. The problems under study in this course include but are not limited to poverty & unemployment, hate crimes, war & violent conflict, family & intimate partner violence, drug abuse & related consequences, homelessness & housing issues, crime & criminality, and environmental issues. The evolution of such problems will be considered, as will solutions to their ongoing persistence.
