MUS 163 - Jazz Improvisation 1 MUS 163 - Jazz Improvisation 1 Credits/Units: 2 cr. (Fall Only) Basic techniques of jazz improvisation. Chord usage, scales, arpeggios are used to color standard tunes and strengthen weak progressions. Students are expected to bring their instruments to class and practice assignments at home. Class time is allocated for individual and group instruction and analyzing recorded solos by noted artists.
