PHTA1101 — Patient and Professional Relationship

3 hr(s). Recognition of the reactions of the healthcare worker, patient, and family to illness and disability is discussed. The influence of race, class, age, ethnic origin, and gender on the physical therapist assistant and patient relationship is explored. The stages of adjustment to disability and death and dying are described. Communication skills between PTA, patients, family, and other health care providers are developed.
