BPM-1020 — Maintenance for Residential Property Management

This course is designed to prepare students to develop and implement maintenance systems for residential properties. Students examine the components of and learn to write a maintenance program. Students develop a budget for repair, maintenance, specials and big-ticket items, and learn to determine whether renovating or upgrading a property would be a wise investment. Additionally, students analyze how environmental factors and energy and water conservation impact the maintenance program. Students analyze ways to minimize risks in property maintenance through use of current rules and regulations. Lastly, students explore how to staff for maintenance, both in house and through contracts. Students summarize their knowledge and skills by writing and presenting a full maintenance plan. (May also be taken as continuing education course RES-318 Maintenance and Residential Property Management). Students may not receive credit for both RPM-1020 and BPM-1020. Course
