DAN-1030 — Dance History
This course examines the development of dance as a performing art in western society from the 17th to the 21st century. Students examine significant developments of dance and performance as they pertain to the choreographer and the dancer. Students identify major figures in Ballet and Modern dance and their significant contributions in dance and performance, including the emerging trends of the 21st century. Additionally, students discuss significant works of choreography from a technical, cultural, or societal perspective. Finally, students research the role of a dance company or artist and the impact it has on the performing art’s world. Course
