EAP-1000 — Essay Writing

EAP-1000 is the fifth and final course in a five-course writing sequence of English for Academic Purposes. In this course, students use writing processes to compose and edit compositions, demonstrating unity of ideas and applying standard academic format, mechanics, and grammar. Students respond to prompts on academic topics related to American culture using rhetorical patterns such as logical order, cause/effect, comparison/contrast, and argument to construct original essay-length compositions. Additionally, students use a word processing tool to format their essays according to American college standards. This course is intended for students who are non-native speakers of American English and who did not complete all four years of high school in the United States. A grade of C or higher is required to successfully complete this course. Formerly: ESL-0202. Students may not receive credit for both ESL-0202 and EAP-1000. Course
