In this course, students explore fundamental concepts in statistics through data analysis and interpretation. They create and analyze histograms, scatter plots, and box plots to describe data distributions and relationships. Students interpret measures of center and spread, and calculate probabilities using rules and distributions to include normal, binomial, and t-distributions. They construct confidence intervals and conduct hypothesis tests for population parameters. Students also compute linear regression equations and correlation coefficients to analyze real-world data. Throughout the course, they use Excel or other appropriate statistical software to support their work. Interpret information contained in statistical measures. Compute probabilities of random variables using basic rules of probability, the normal t-distribution, chi-square, and binomial probability distribution. Compute confidence interval estimates for common statistical measures. Use statistical testing procedures to perform hypothesis testing. Compute linear regressions and correlation coefficients using data taken from various sources.
