2 credits · 2 hours

Music Theory I introduces students to practices musicians use to understand and communicate the language of music. Students learn basics of four-part writing procedures within a diatonic framework. The concepts in this course draw on examples from the Common Practice Era (1600-present.) Students perform basic keyboard excerpts related to their course material. Formerly: MUS-1155, MUS-1150. Students may only receive credit for one of these courses: MUS-1145, MUS-1150 or MUS-1155.
