PMD-1030 — Cardiology and EKG Interpretation
An in-depth study of the pathophysiology, assessment, and treatment of cardiac emergencies including basic and advanced EKG interpretation. Extensive use of laboratory and computer-assisted instruction will be emphasized. Identify the methods and elements of assessment and management of a cardiac emergency, including the pathophysiological significance of the assessment findings, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards. Identify the elements and principles of EKG analysis and interpretation using current standard monitoring technology, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards. Identify the elements and principles of electrical therapies related to cardiac emergencies using current standard monitoring technology, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards. Select the use of pharmacological agents to manage a cardiac emergency, including its pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, medication administration routes, standard dosages, indications, contraindications, side effects, and responses, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
