TRF-1410 — Introduction to Audio Production
This course focuses on all aspects of audio for mass mediated communication. Students learn the historical developments and future trends of the radio industry including social, economic, and political factors of influence. Additionally, students explore the origins and techniques of programming, radio formats, developing a Hot Clock, the use of music and sound effects, scriptwriting, announcing, studio production, and station operation as well as sales and the role of the producer. Students gain experience in the latest techniques and tools for effective audio production using an audio board. Students apply these techniques in the production of a variety of audio segments, such as a public service announcement, an aircheck and a show that contains talk and/or music, a newscast, music sweep, and a commercial cluster.
