ARTH 225 — History of Graphic Design

This course will examine the history of graphic design as a form of communication covering topics including prehistory, early books, early typography for the industrial period, photography as a new communications tool, national visions of design in a global economy, postmodern design, and the digital revolution. Its primary aim is to provide the design student with a knowledge of graphic design history for use in contemporary multi-media.
