HIST 141 — Latin American History II

This course is a survey of Latin American and Carribean history from Independence (1800) to the present. The course will focus on problems of nation-building, caudillismo, modernization, social change and cultural development. The experience of individual states will be examined, but specific emphasis will be given to events and developments that are representative of continental-wide trends.
