Topics include properties of organic compounds, organic chemical reactions, reaction mechanisms, organic synthesis, and their laboratory applications. Students will learn the chemistry of alcohols, phenols, ethers, conjugated dienes, aromatic compounds, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, acyl halides, acid anhydrides, esters, amides, nitriles, and amines.
