Topics include properties of organic compounds, organic chemical reactions, reaction mechanisms, and organic synthesis. Students will learn the chemistry of alcohols, phenols, ethers, conjugated dienes, aromatic compounds, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, acyl halides, acid anhydrides, esters, amides, nitriles, and amines.
