CD 2043 — PARENT AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS

This course is designed to prepare early childhood professionals who have the ability to establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with families, who can respect parents’ choices and goals for children and communicate effectively with parents about curriculum and children’s progress and who can involve families in assessing and planning for individual children, including children with disabilities, developmental delays or special abilities and support parents in making decisions related to their child’s development and parenting. The content includes how professionals can become aware of educational resources available in the community. Participation in and planning of family and community activities that relate to the early childhood profession is also a part of the course. (Summer, Fall)
