CD 2103 — EDUCATION AND SERVICES FOR

CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS This course is designed to provide an understanding of conditions which affect children’s development and learning, including risk factors, developmental variations and developmental patterns of specific disabilities. Content covers how to create and modify environments and experiences to meet the individual needs of children with disabilities, developmental delays and special abilities. The course also includes opportunities to evaluate and demonstrate appropriate use of technology with young children, including assistive technologies. Knowledge of state and federal legislation related to providing services for children with disabilities and their families is also emphasized. The course combines classroom instruction, hands-on activities and observation of children with special needs. (Fall)
