COM 1213 — AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE I

This is a beginning course designed to develop the receptive and expressive manual communication skills used primarily by American- born persons who are deaf. Catalog 2025-2026  Redlands Community College  Section III-Course Descriptions Emphasis is on acquiring elementary conversational skills through targeted grammar, syntax and vocabulary. The importance of nonverbal factors is incorporated through the use of gestures, pantomime, body language and eye training. 2 semester credit hours lecture; 1 semester credit hour
