MICR 2134 — INTRODUCTION TO MICROBIOLOGY
WITH LAB Prerequisite: CHEM 1315 General Chemistry I with Lab or CHEM 1214 Survey of General, Organic, and Biochemistry with Lab with a grade of “C” or higher and 3 credit hours of life science with a grade of “C” or higher or permission of instructor. Introductory course based on the guidelines of the American Society for Microbiology. The core concept of microbial diversity is integrated to include microbial cell biology, microbial genetics and the interactions and impact of microorganisms on humans and on the environment. Laboratory exercises are aimed at reinforcing lecture topics, basic microbiological techniques as well as basic identification and safety techniques. 3 hours lecture credit, 1 hour lab credit.
