NURS 155 — Medical-Surgical Nursing II Care of the Chronically Ill Clie

focuses on the use of the nursing process and critical thinking to manage adult clients with chronic and increasingly complex alterations in neurological, oncological, immune, hematological, endocrine and musculoskeletal functioning in medical health care delivery systems. Students function in the roles of healthcare team member, provider of care, and manager of care. Clinical experiences are in oncology, acute phase of chronic illness, home health, and hospice care. Students develop insight about the effects of chronic illness on an aging population as it relates to nursing roles and the health care delivery systems. Oncology and Home Health rotations are included as an observational experience. This course is applicable toward all certificates and degrees (credit hours 5.0, lecture hours 3.0, lab hours 6.0).

Prerequisites: NURS 112, NURS 152, NURS 154, PSYCH 145, BIOL 202
