ART 2100 — Art and Community

This course is an overview of the history of art in public spaces and contemporary public art practice. Through readings, lectures, labs, case studies, site visits, and visiting artists, students will learn how public art is selected, produced, and funded, as well as its role in community engagement and social change. Students will work collaboratively as a class to initiate and participate in community based art works, projects, or events.
