CHEM 1010 — Survey of Chemistry

An introductory one-semester course designed for liberal arts and pre-health science students. Foundational principles of general, organic, and biochemistry are introduced. Topics covered are atomic structure, energy, phase changes, solutions, acid-base concepts and use of pH, gas laws, nuclear chemistry, carbon compound families and typical reactions and macromolecules of biological importance, such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins and their metabolism.
