Great educators are always needed and must have a strong foundation in the profession to begin their journey. This introduction to the education profession is examined from a historical, sociological, cultural, psychological and philosophical perspectives. Let us explore the social purposes of education in historical and contemporary contexts. Topics include: financing, administration and control of U.S. education, multi-cultural education, professional preparation, current issues and trends, curriculum models, legal and moral responsibilities of teachers and societal challenges for educators. 10 hours for Fieldwork is required.
