HIS 11200 — World History I - Prehistoric to 1500
An examination of various societies, civilizations, empires, and cultures throughout the non-western world from the Paleolithic Era to the 1500s. The focus is placed on how political, economic, and social developments shaped the conditions, attitudes, and values of these various societies. Subjects discussed in readings and in class include the Mesopotamian societies, the Persian Empire, Ancient India, Ancient China, Feudal Japan, West African cultures, East African cultures and the American societies before Columbus.
