This course will focus on the art and culture of Asia, Africa and the Native Americans, from prehistoric times to the present. Special attention will be given to high civilizations around the globe, their art and architecture, and their religious practices. Participating in this course is intended to provide each student with a cultural, historical, and aesthetic understanding of art beyond our western traditions. Areas to be covered include, but are not limited to, Japan, China, India, Native North and South America, civilizations on the continent of Africa, and peoples of the African diaspora. 3/0/0
