CEK-701 — Phlebotomy Technician

This course prepares individuals to obtain blood samples from veins following the curriculum recommended by the American Society for Phlebotomy Technicins (A.S.P.T.). The course is 210 hours divided into three components. The first 90 hours is classroom instruction held at the BCC campus. The remaining 120 hours are at Virtua Hospital in Mt. Holly and divided into 90 hours of Clinical and 30 hours Practical instruction. Requirements: A high school diploma or GED is required. Good writing and communication skills are expected. Prior to beginning the Clinical section of the course, students are required to obtain profess- ional liability insurance and submit a completed physical exam form that will be provided. Students need to have or obtain certification from the Red Cross in CPR. For those who do not already hold current certification, a course will be scheduled prior to the Clinical component. Approximate cost of the CPR course including the text is $90. Note: There is an additional cost for the text. Prior to beginning the Clincal instruction students should expect expenses for uniforms, liability insurance and possibly the physical exam.
