FSC-102 — Fire Dept Organization & Mgmt

This course is designed to introduce firefighters and company officers to essential and innovative management, leadership and human relations methods. This course is also appropriate for training officers responsible for teaching and developing fire officers and officer candidates. Knowledge of essential firefighting skills is assumed. The course curriculum corresponds to the requirements in NFPA 1021 (Professional Qualifications) for Level I in personnel and fire ground management. The supervisory functions of planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and fire ground control are discussed. The course addresses issues related to human relations such as equal opportunity employment, professional development, employee health and safety, and the officer's legal responsibilities to the employees and the community. Successful completion of this course is a part of the requirements to apply for and obtain NJ Division of Fire Safety Fire Officer I certification (including ProBoard/IFSAC certification). Prerequisite: FSC 101 4/0/0
