CHEM 100 — Introductory Chemistry

Topics include measurement, problem solving, matter and energy, physical and chemical properties and changes of matter, properties of gases, elementary atomic theory, chemical periodicity, chemical nomenclature, chemical transformations, bonding and Lewis structures, the mole concept and stoichiometry. This course satisfies the general science requirement for non-science majors, including students planning a career in the Allied Health professions. An elementary understanding of high school mathematics with emphasis on algebra is essential. Laboratory exercises support lecture topics.
