CHEM 101 — General Chemistry I
3 Lecture Hours, 3 Lab Hours 4 Credits Prerequisites: ENGL 060, MATH 105, CHEM 100 (or HS Chemistry) Course Fees: C, H This is the first semester of a two-semester sequential course presenting the basic principles involved in the study of chemistry. Topics include matter and measurement, atomic theory, nomenclature, chemical reactions and stoichiometry, reactions in aqueous solutions, thermochemistry, electronic structure of atoms, periodicity, chemical bonding, molecular geometry and bonding theories, gas laws, liquids and intermolecular forces, and solids and modern materials.
