COMM 225 — Why We Write: Writing for Elementary Students

3 Lecture Hours, 3 Credits Prerequisites: ENGL 102 This course prepares education majors to facilitate the writing workshop approach in the elementary classroom to increase young writers’ abilities in the writing crafts. The course will introduce education majors to ways to utilize formative and summative assessment methods to assist struggling writers in their own classroom. Utilizing best practices through mini lessons and conferences, education majors will learn how to assist emerging writers through a writing workshop approach.
