1 Lecture Hours, 1 Credits Prerequisites: Admittance to the dental assisting program Corequisites: ENGL 101, SPEH 101 This course is a study of general anatomy and physiology, basic anatomy of the oral cavity, oral histology, and oral embryology, as well as a study of the nomenclature, structure, morphology, and function of the teeth. Lecture sessions are designed to emphasize the clinical appearance of the anatomical features of the teeth and to point out relationships to adjacent teeth, opposing teeth, and surrounding tissues. This course also describes the structure and function of the gross structures of the head and neck, embryology, and histology. Discussions will emphasize the importance of anatomical concepts to dental patient treatment. It will also describe oral anomalies commonly found in dentistry. Students must receive a grade of ‘C’ or higher in all dental courses.
