Corequisites: DENT 205, DENT 125, DENT 210 This course is designed for the student to learn through lectures computer and dental software, business and personal ethics, public health, jurisprudence, legal responsibilities of dental healthcare professionals, professional written and oral communication skills, maintenance of inventory and supplies, product ordering, management of business and patient records, recalls systems, NJ Board of Dentistry Guidelines, New Jersey Registered Dental Assist Dental Practice Act, prepare the dental auxiliary student to provide patient education to individuals and groups, focus on the patient as a whole person, and analyze the patient's lifestyle, values, behavior patterns and the environment in which the patient lives. The course takes the student through the process of regarding the development, implementation, and evaluation of dental health education programs in several settings. This course will also provide the student with volunteer opportunities to practice public health.
