EDUC 113 — Infant/Toddler Mental Health
3 Lecture Hours, 3 Credits Prerequisites: PSYC 103 and EDUC 102 This course deals with the exploration of the essential elements involved in setting the foundation for the mental health and social- emotional development of infants and toddlers. Topics are supported with research-based curriculum on brain development, attachment theories, temperament, and curriculum. This course examines the importance of identifying and meeting social/emotional needs and how these needs relate to the caregiver’s interactive process with infants, toddlers, and their families. A specific focus will be applied to developmentally appropriate practices and techniques in the childcare setting that influence the beginning of identity formation and a creative life experience.
