ENGL 100 — Readings in Literature
4 Lecture, 4 Credits Prerequisites: ENGL 060 or Placement on Accuplacer Readings in Literature increases students’ comprehension and enjoyment of reading through literature, fiction, and non-fiction, while emphasizing close reading of passages to develop students’ critical thinking, critical reading, and critical writing skills. Relying on intensive instructor guidance, students study the major forms of literature, fiction, poetry, drama, and essays to identify the connections between literature and the human experience and to learn to identify major themes, inferences, major and minor details.
