3 Lecture Hours, 3 Credits Prerequisites: ENGL 060 or ENGL 100 This course will provide a survey of the political, economic, social, cultural, and intellectual history of the United States from its beginnings through the Civil War. Students will be encouraged to develop a critical and analytical approach to historical problems. Students should discover the complexity of historical forces and historical cycles and increase their appreciation of cultural diversity in American history.
