PARA 203 — Bankruptcy
3 Lecture Hours, 3 Credits Pre or Corequisites: PARA 101 This course introduces the student to bankruptcy law with emphasis on the paralegal’s role. Topics include an introduction to the bankruptcy law, bankruptcy court procedures and the preparation of bankruptcy forms and documents, debtor’s and creditor’s rights and litigation proceedings in bankruptcy court. Students will learn to recognize ethical considerations for paralegals working in this area and learn current computer applications utilized in a bankruptcy practice. Emphasis will be on consumer bankruptcy including Chapter 7 and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code and the role of the paralegal as part of a team in a bankruptcy practice.
