PTAS 102 — Kinesiology and Measurement of the
Musculoskeletal System 3 Lecture Hour, 7 Lab Hours, 6 Credits Prerequisites: Grade of C+ or better in BIOL 105 and MATH 108 Corequisite: BIOL 106; PTAS 101 Course Fee: I Building upon Anatomy and Physiology I, this course will provide an in-depth study of the biomechanical principles and anatomical structures responsible for human movement, as well as the fundamentals and physiological effects of therapeutic exercise. Students will be expected to demonstrate in lab competency with palpation of anatomical landmarks; assessing anthropometric measurements, muscle strength, joint range of motion, posture, and gait; and performing common therapeutic exercises for strengthening, stretching, balance and coordination. Documentation regarding data collection and treatment interventions will also be included.
