CHEM 253 - Organic Chemistry CHEM 253 - Organic Chemistry Description Organic Chemistry provides an overview of the principles of organic chemistry. The student will examine the structure, bonding and naming, as well as the physical and chemical properties of each of the organic functional groups. The focus of the course will be placed on studying the important organic molecules that are involved in biological processes, as well as molecules of industrial importance. The specific industrial processes examined will include: Food and beverages, petroleum recovery and processing, the mining industry, petrochemicals, polymers and pulp and paper. 6 Credits Time Guidelines The standard instructional time for this course is 165 hours.
